March 14, 2010

Hello All! Computer issues continue to be a challenge which is why there haven't been any more pictures. It has been a great day. Coach Bird handled his preaching duties alright this morning and the kids went to two different services. Lunch was at a local shopping mall and then we spent the afternoon and evening at the orphanage. Saying goodbye to the children has been difficult for everybody, they are such amazing kids! Now packing up the guest house, we leave for safari at 6am tomorrow. Probably will not be any more posts for the trip, but if it is at all possible we will update everyone again. Everyone here is happy and healthy. We can't wait to see everyone at home!

March 13, 2010

Hello folks. Today has been a great day! We spent the day walking
through a community called kenendegua and we saw over 20 people pray
to recieved Christ and our kids were a part of some of those!! Tonight
will be our first alone night at the house so I am looking forward to
breaking down what we are feeling. All of the team has done a great
job jumping in and trying new things. Tomorrow we will worship at
Ridgeways Baptist and go say our good byes at the orphange in the
afternoon. We then head out on safari at 6am on Monday. I won't be
able to post anymore pictures, but tomorrow I will be able to post a
longer description of all we have done. We are all safe and happy. No
drama or stress! Mungu ni mzuri (God is good).

3rd post

Hey guys, internet has become very limited. Not sure if I will be able to load anymore pics, but I will keep doing the best I can.

Today got off to a slow start while I had to set up a meeting with the church we will work with on Sat and Sun. Last night we had multiple power outages and the girls got to scream a little! Hopefully tonight they will be asleep if and when the power goes out! This morning we went back to Rosslyn for the High School chapel. The kids found if very similiar to what we have at SCS. We then had lunch at a food court at the local shopping center and the kids got to gawk at the huge new American embassy here. This afternoon we are tiling and helping the kids write letters back to the folks who sponsor them. I think we might find a few of these kiddos in our bags when we return. So many are growing great connections with our kids. The group is handling the frequent schedule changes and slow pace of everything, as well as the packing all of us into a really small van every time we travel. I continue to be amazed at the beauty of the country and can't wait to show more the kids. Please be in prayer because I was asked to preach on Sunday at the youth service at my old church. Not sure how I feel about it, but I know God will work through me. Tonight we will have a traditional Kenyan meal and then on Friday we will be heading to a slum to work with some other kids. Our kids have only seen the best side of Kenya and that is the minority. Be in prayer for them as we process all the poverty they are about to see. Love to all. We are all healthy and safe. :)

2nd update

Okey Dokey, sooooo this computer internet thing is becoming very difficult. I will try to post again on the trip, but its becoming pretty difficult. Please bear with me.

Now onto important stuff. We are all doing great. Here is some info on our pics. The group photo is the kids sitting here right now at a local restaraunt. It is soooo yummy. Danny and Quinlyn are doing great too even though they are not pictured.

In the past 24 hours we finished organizing all of the goods we brought. We have been scraping off old tiles and putting in new tiles throughout the home. We had a paint crew that painted trim on three different buildings too. Quinlyn was able to see over 60 kids today from two different orphanges and advise them on further dental care. We finished the afternoon off watching a girls soccer game at my old high school and then came here to "Java House" for dinner.

Two of the pictures were from our devotional time with the kids last night. The group shot is the younger kids devo. The older kids were upstairs. How amazing it has been to see smiling little faces praying for sick people when they themselves have HIV. Amazing.

One special note - Whitney wants her brother price to know she says happy birthday!

We love and miss you all. Our SCS kiddos are doing an amazing job and God is moving!
